Nyxstar looked at the setting sun, her eyes drooping slightly. She looked down and the ground beneath her, her black muscular face having a small frown on it, afraid that she was a boring leader. 'I wonder why it's been so lazy around here lately.' she thought silently, her gray eyes closing for awhile. She opened them a few minutes later, and the sky was suddenly dark. She looked up, expecting to see thousands of stars, the ancestors of the clans smiling down on her.
She frowned at the dark night, where not a single star was shining, and the moon wasn't visible. 'Starclan, where are you?' she asked herself quietly, her ears pricked for any sound. "Have we really been forgotten?" she said aloud, her mind racing. She knew in her heart that the answer was no, but with her ancestors not shining down on her, it was easy to forget it.

Winter-rain was out hunting though it was rather hard to see anything in this darkness. But he was fortunate to have found a rabbit and sucessfully caught it. A small smirk appeared on his face as he carried the limp body in his powerful jaws. The smirk disappeared as the darkness damped on his happy mood, he didnt see any stars like normal. Hmmm even the moon seemed hidden by this sudden black out of light. As his white broad figure made his way quickly in the night his sense of smell guided him home. His tainted blue eyes were his only light even his snow white pelt was masked by the nights veil. The scar across his left eye also was slightly visible suddenly the flashback of that night pushed into his vision. He droped the prey as he thought of Sandpaw and Gingerpaws torn up and sprawled bodies the ground speckled in there blood mixing with the foxes. He felt one hot salty tear come from his eye stinging his scar just a little, he had learned to take the pain of it. Shaking the drop away he picked up his prey and padded into the clearing, seting it down he looked out almost jumping at the sudden voice. Narrowing his eyes he noticed Nyxstars outline. "Im sure they havent forgotten." he replied cooly his unsocial and solem nature showed again though respect was clear in his strong clear tone of voice as he just stayed where he was.

Nyxstar looked up as an outline entered the clearing, dropping something around the are that must be the fresh-kill pile. Late night hunting was always something Nyxstar liked to do, and maybe she would go out tonight. But then she remembered the no stars or moon. Well, she could hunt by smell of course, and her eyes always adjusted better then most cats to the darkness. Perhaps she would. It was Winter-rain, one of the two toms in the clan. She remembered his horrible past, and sent a pitying look his way, hoping the darkness would cover it. "I'm sure they havn't forgotten." she nodded, her gray eyes shining in the black, her black pelt blending in with the night. "Yes, I'm sure too. I was just wondering aloud."

Winter-rain nodded but he was sure she couldnt see so steadily replied "Ok, sorry if i disturbed you." Arching his back into a stretch he was sure that he wasnt to tired to sleep yet. Turning he started back to the entrence maybe a nice stroll could ease his mind or either that make it worse. Everytime he passed by the place where his so called siblings were lost though no one would notice now. The blood was washed away by the rain and all the new scents took its place. But he remembered, he would always remember it was his fault wasnt it. He wasnt as strong as he should have been. Shaking his head he sat down his head hung as he was lost in his dark memories.

Ashened white fur was greatly visible in the dark shadows, the lacking moonlight only slightly dimming its splendor.
The tom's breathing was slow, and couldn't be heard as he made his way into camp, smelling the night air absent-mindedly.[/color] A slow but steady rhythm of pawsteps was barely audible as BreezeClan's deputy made his way into camp. Subtlestripe listened carefully to everthing around him, a few minutes ago he was almost sure he could hear rustles in the foliage just mouse-lengths from the Warrior's Den. But that could of just been his imagination, the quiet tabby always thought too much about things. So he was unable to sleep, worrying if it was an invader. He always made things too complicated, and couldn't exactly decide on what the answer was on any subject. It was just one of his many odd qualities that no one exactly understood or liked. Subtlestripe was Subtlestripe, nothing more, nothing less. The tom's nature was drilled into his soul like a tick, and it would never let go.
As he approached he could hear soft meows of conversation. No doubt it had been his leader, Nyxstar and one of the warriors. Winter-rain, he belived. Somthing of StarClan had been mentioned. StarClan.... do they truely exist? Or are they just a state of mind? he pondered to himself, nearing the Breeze Log. He brushed his slightly dusty pelt against the great fallen wood, as he turned the corner to meet the two felines. Acknowlegeing them with a simple nod, he slowly kneeled with his front legs, laying down ever so softly. The scrawny tabby closed his eyes, letting his surroundings soak into his fur. 'But why? Why did you choose me?' he asked, the smell of the dampened log entering his nostrils as he confronted Nyxstar in her den. The ceremony had just ended, a few apprentices had been named warriors. But everyone had been shocked that he, Subtlestripe, had been chosen...He opened his light blue optics, a solemn look on his face. His crystal blue eyes were dim, no clear emotion could be seen. This memory had been haunting him very recently, and wouldn't stop bothering. Why had he been chosen? What did Nyxstar see fit in him to serve as her deputy over anyone else? Not many seemed to like the idea, and the rest of the clan were as shocked as he was. The quiet, non-sociable Subtlestripe didn't seem like he could lead patrols and tell others what to do. He had never been that way. Maybe, perhaps, it was a challange? A challange for him to changes his ways, to fufill his true potential. He didn't know, but he had tried not to dwell on this thought. There were too many things to focus on already...

Nyxstar looked as her deputy padded over to them, although not clearly, she could see the stripes on his pelt. She nodded at him, "Hello Subtlestripe." she mewed softly, her eyes shining. He was a good tom, and if she wasn't truely devoted to her clan, she might even had taken him as a mate. But she didn't dwell on the thought of a mate and kits for long, it sometimes seemed to tempting. But she knew she would never give up her life as clan leader for a family. She was perfectly fine on her own, and there were enough queens in the clan as there was. What the clan needed wasn't another cat not able to fight in the nursery with kits, but a strong leader who would fight to the death for their clan, and not have to worry about specific cats in the clan.

A flash of pale gray fur appeared at the entrance of the camp as Dovecry moved forward. The blue eyed she-cat padded calmly forward toward the fresh-kill pile. She deposited her food, then took her share of a rabbit. Ye it was late, but she had been out later than expected and she was hungry. Dovecry lifted her hare off of the pile, and pricked her ears. She could hear murmuring in the distance of the camp. When she looked over at the Breeze Log, she saw Winter-rain, Nyxstar, and Subtlestripe. The three warriors were talked quietly, and when Dovecry approached them, they're voices got louder."Hello Subtlestripe." Was the last thing she heard before she dipped her head to the leader and deputy, she sat down and started to eat her hare a little ways off from the group. [/blockquote]
